about

Up Before the Sunrise was my first full-length album, released August 2008. I began writing and performing raps and poetry as a teen in ’96. I decided to pursue music professionally in 2005. Up Before the Sunrise was a long time coming.

I grew up following local Rawlins, WY rap group Loco Mente as they toured the Lowrider circuit and performed with artists like Kid Frost and Lighter Shade of Brown in the mid-90s.

In high school I ciphered with my friends and picked up The Source magazine to keep up with what was relevant in cities like L.A. and N.Y.C. Hip-Hop in Wyoming sometimes felt like more of a spiritual or metaphysical experience than a physical one, something I’m proud of, because that’s my story. I have my own thing to bring to the world of music. I proved that with the release of Up Before the Sunrise.

The music was written by Mannequin Rituals, experimental and almost entirely free of samples. My lyrics were gritty but poetic, reflecting eight years of Bush, orchestrated economic meltdown, world in chaos, environmental destruction and violence. The album was mixed and mastered in the basement, DIY style, by Will Ross of CHiTT Productions.
